What colours do aluminium windows come in?

aïr aluminium windows have endless colour options. They are available in any colour on the RAL colour chart – that’s a choice of more than 2,500 colour shades!

What is the RAL colour chart?

RAL is one of the best known colour-matching systems in the world. It is used to define ‘true’ colours for paint, coatings and plastics and it is administrated by the RAL German Institute for Quality Assurance and Labelling.

RAL literally stands for ‘Reichs-Ausschuß für Lieferbedingungen und Gütesicherung’ – roughly translated in English as the ‘National Committee for Delivery Conditions and Quality Assurance’.

Founded in 1925, RAL has been the ‘official language of colours’ for almost a century!

Powder-coating: how aluminium becomes a RAL colour

Colouring aluminium frames is done using a process called ‘powder-coating’.

During this process, the aluminium is thoroughly cleaned to remove any grease, dirt or debris. Then a coloured powder can be sprayed onto statically charged aluminium profiles. Next, the aluminium is put in a high-temperature oven to ‘bake’ the profile so that the powder melts to create a consistent, high-quality colour finish.
