It’s a very simple question but one that we’re often asked by customers – why did you choose aluminium to manufacture your bi-fold and lift & slide doors rather than some of the other materials available?
It’s a fair question and one that we’re always happy to answer. Here’s our reasoning for always opting for aluminium:
High-strength and durability were absolute necessities when creating the aïr range and aluminium is one of the earth’s toughest materials. This ensures that aïr doors are capable of withstanding almost anything that daily life throws at them.
Despite the trademark toughness of aluminium, it’s still a very flexible material and can be easily moulded into the most desired shapes. The flexibility of aluminium made it possible for us to craft amazingly slim frames, much narrower than you would expect of a uPVC or timber equivalent. These slim frames can accommodate very large expanses of glass so that lots of natural light can travel through aïr doors.
People are often surprised at how lightweight aluminium is. This makes it incredibly easy to manoeuvre an aïr door from one end of the track system to the other. Minimal effort is required as just the lightest of pushes is enough to generate an opening of your choice.
We’re not the type of company to neglect the welfare of the planet as we try to do our bit for the environment. The great thing about aluminium is that it’s fully recyclable and can be given a new life even after years of use.

5. Low maintenance
No-one has the time or inclination to continuously treat materials like timber which can rapidly succumb to wear and tear and demand frequent upkeep. Powder coated aluminium is practically maintenance-free as a quick wipe with a damp cloth is usually enough to remove any dirt from the frames.
